Home!

May 11th, 2009

Good day all!

I survived! I’m home!

It was quite good times-but it’s good to come back to a little relaxed life in SE Kansas (not that I couldn’t have led a relaxed life in Hutchinson area either, but that would not have been making good use of the situation)!

I really need some sleep-but here’s an album that shows some of the things I did in the last week.

Reno County, Week 2

March 29th, 2009

Hi Friends! How are you all doing? It’s a beautiful night, but it’s time to go to bed.

Tonight I talked to this really awesome gentleman who thought he would feel special if I’d post a picture of him. So I’m going to-the only probably is that wordpress’s questionable picture system (for older versions) won’t let me upload it easily, so I’m going to have to post ‘em on another album.

I (with Jacob, Sheri, and Anja) went to the messiah concert (the complete messiah this year actually) this afternoon, which was quite awesome. Afterwards, Sheri, Hannah and I went to Marvin N.’s and hung out w/ Matthew- GOOD TIMES!

We’ve also had many good times with many visitors here at Lavernes, it’s too hard to talk about ‘em all.

Millerseed/Hutchinson

Well, I’m in hutchinson now. How AntiClimatic!

I’m having a *Good Time* hanging out with John. It seems like wherever I go, john is there. … This is a good thing!

Also, Sheri is a good thing as well! She has accompanied me to all major parties recently. GOOD TIMES!

Meanwhile, life continues at breakneck speed! late nights, early mornings. Maybe when the weekend comes it will sloowwww down….

I’m working at millerseed this week-Having to work for my food is definatly a change! Sometimes i forget what *real* work is like, but it makes me feel good to know I can almost do it sometimes.

Oh, and a photo album of some the parties I’ve been involved in is here.

phasing around

March 15th, 2009

Friends, Relations, and other random people who read this blog. It interests me that you take the time to read this blog! I am about to embark on a journey that involves many thing.

One of the many things is that the outlook over the next 2 years involves red-a lot of red. -$$$$

Oh well, I’ve kinda been thinking about this period of life for quite a while now, and it’s most definitely what I want to do.  The things I’m doing? First of all, I’m headed to Reno County to watch W. Schmucker teach school for about 5 weeks. I’m staying at Laverne Millers, which promises to be a concept of great value in many ways. I’m also planning to work at Miller Seed Farms over spring break-also a good thing. The first week I’m there holding down the place w/ John M. as his parents will be gone to Ministers Meetings. This is all rather exciting, but it promises to hold “red”, as I’m not used to living in a community with significantly more opportunities to eat-and-gas doesn’t come free nowadays.

However, what I’m going to do after that is still, *quite* up in the air. If Faith Builders accepts my application, the next couple years will be quite structured-if they do not, an entirely different type of thing might happen, and I’m not sure what. However, I’m quite confident that God does, and that he’s willing to see it through.

Needless to say, this is a quite exciting time in life, which means that it’s not entirely comfortable. I’m leaving in 8 days.

note to self-Random things I need to do in the next 8 days-

do something to keep Esthers’ stay here “interesting”

burn cd’s of my mp3 collection (it’s only 3.55GB)

figure out *which* of my family pictures I want to take (it’s only about 170GB)

bolt the drivers’ side airbag in place in my Cavalier

remove the “world stick” from my Cavalier

remove all random junk & prepare my Camry for its move to Orens

do something with 7GB of video from the “Literary Night”

reinstall windows on the Family computer, which I also need to steal my 22″ monitor from (so I can study better *cough* *cough*)

pay rent, cell phone bills

remove personal items from family computer corner

go out to eat with important people

get over my close to one month bout with stomach flu and the common cold

Peace in the Journey, YA’LL!

Good Times!!!

Sickness

November 23rd, 2008

Today Dad reported that he has garden fever. Local gossip has it that not having to clear the tomato cages off of the garden made garden fever come about 6months early.

Today I have house building fever… Not that it’s time for me to build a house, but I want to anyway. There’s lots of different options (as cheaply as possible of course)-

1. A hole in the ground, take the dirt out of the ground, use it as *bricks*, and use some plastic to keep the water from coming in the walls, put a little steel on the roof, etc… Of course this would be insulated to the gills to keep heating and cooling costs to minimums. 750 sq feet. Stove, shower, pot, and refrigerator. 2 rooms, bathroom and rest of the house.

Estimated cost: $4000

Estimated utilities (Water, Gas, Electricity): $150/month

2. A hole stuck halfway in the ground, using block or concrete walls and a concrete floor with copper lines in the floor to keep it warm. Tin on the roof. 3 rooms-1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, and everything else. 1000sq feet. Above applicances.

Estimated cost: $10000

Estimated utilities (Water, Gas, Electricity): $150/month

3. Metal Building, all above ground. Concrete floor, one story. 4 rooms, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and everything else. 1500sq feet. Above applicances plus microwave.

Estimated cost: $15000

Estimated Utilities: $200.

The list goes on, but I have to play rook w/ my family-those are the most appealing options though.

Oh, I had moped fever 3 weeks ago. I got halfway done with a chainsaw powered bike-but hit a small snag, and the cold weather has turned my thoughts houseward.

I have go to Faith Builders fever as well… but I can’t do anything about that till summer anyway-so, you get to hear about all these things now.

Peace be with you!

Wild Logic

October 27th, 2008

Moses rode a boat, so we should too! That’s not all-when the chariots of Egypt came after the Israelites, the wheels of their chariots came off! God likes boats, and we should like them too! Support mankind against wheeled vehicles by helping me buy a boat!

The Lottery

October 14th, 2008

I just got done reading “The Lottery”, a short story by Shirley Jackson. Interesting, very interesting. I had a vivid reminder today of how this applies to me/us now. Take your time, enjoy it-it’s worth the effort.

Thanks to my boss for pointing me to this story.

A side note-my room got cleaned… It is now possible to see the floor!

I work in a very interesting place.

I function better with a little excitement, but overload starts weighing down on me.

I’m discovering that I *sit and talk* all day at work-so it isn’t nearly as intregueing as a potential time-waster at home.
